The Team Toronto Committee are pleased to announce the launch of their 2006 Bursary Program for the Chicago Gay Games and the Montréal World Outgames.   Details of the Team Toronto Bursary Program are contained on the attached document.

Bursary applications are now being accepted for the Gay Games VII Chicago 2006 and the 1st World Outgames Montréal 2006.  The bursaries are available to cover registration, travel, lodging and/or expenses for qualified individuals going to Chicago July 15th – 22nd  2006 for the Gay Games VII Sports & Cultural Festival or to Montreal July 29th to August 5th, 2006 for the 1st World Outgames. The Deadline for the Team Toronto and Women4Montreal Bursary Program Application has been extended to March 31, 2006.

Team Toronto is pleased to announce that Roots Canada has been chosen to be the official supplier of the Team Toronto uniforms which will be used during the televised Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the upcoming Gay Games VII in Chicago (July 15th to 22nd, 2006) as well as the 1st World Outgames in Montréal (July 29th to August 5th, 2006).

Team Toronto is a membership-based organization of individual GLBT athletes who come together to experience the Gay Games and the World Outgames.  Mike Ferguson, the chair of the Team Toronto uniform committee said, “We’re thrilled to announce this today.  Roots is recognized as an outstanding Canadian company with a well-known international brand, and famous for their parade uniforms for Team USA, Team Canada and Team UK at major sporting events.  We are very pleased that they will be assisting us with the Team Toronto parade uniforms this year – especially when we know both events will be televised for the first time.”

Team Toronto expects to send around 200 athletes to Gay games VII in Chicago and about 400 athletes to the 1st World Outgames in Montreal.  The Team Toronto uniforms will cost $135.00 (including all taxes) for Team Toronto members (or $150.00 for Non Team Toronto members) and will consist of the following 5 items:  (see attached samples)

• Baseball Cap
• Shorts
  

On Saturday May 6th,Toronto Sports Alliance/Team Toronto will hold its 2nd annual theatre fundraiser at Canstage’s production of Hair!  We welcome everyone to groove and rock with us for this amazing evening, then join us for the private reception after the show at Izakaya.
Following a very successful fundraiser with CanStage’s Take Me Out in 2005, this year’s event will feature a performance of the groundbreaking musical classic HAIR and a post performance reception at Izakaya (69 Front St E). This hot new restaurant was named one of Toronto.com’s best new restaurants of 2005. 
There will be a silent auction as part of the reception with great prizes donated by several generous individuals and corporations who support the lesbian & gay community.  Last year’s silent auction raised over $2,000 and included tickets to National Ballet of Canada, a selection of wines and books, attendance at a live broadcast of the CHUM FM morning show, and many other great prizes.  Only by getting your ticket can you see this year’s amazing prizes!!
Tickets are $100 and all proceeds go to Toronto Sports Alliance/Team Toronto to help support and develop the LGBT recreation & sporting community, especially in the year of two great international events, the Montreal OutGames and Chicago Gay Games.
